Maps And Modes
Swordai has a number of multiplayer maps and modes. The main game mode, the tower climb, is described in detail on the Tower page. This page covers the other game modes including the Arena, Freeform, Soulwar, Challenges, and Everwar map are all available in the Train menu.
Arena
The arena map is a 1v1 dueling map with 8 platforms. Players start at the lowest platform and after each duel the winner moves up a platform and the loser moves down a platform. Losing on the bottom platform ends your run. All matches are done with the pure debuff so all cultivation tree upgrades are disabled and only the default abilities are available. The platforms are prepopulated with NPCs of varying difficulty, Novice Swordsman, Initiate Cultivators, and Flame Acolytes. Each time a human player joins they replace one of the NPCs so when the map has 16 players there are no NPCs.
There are achievements for winning matches, winning on the top platform, and a leaderboard for total wins.
Freeform
The freeform map is a large open area where players are free to do whatever they like. It contains special slash commands for choosing teams, and has a healing fountain in the center. The scoreboard tracks kills, deaths and damage dealt.
Soulwar
Soulwar is a 3-way team fight map. Each team has two destructible respawn points, one of which is undefended and one of which is defended by a destructible turret. As long as a team has a respawn point when a player dies he will respawn in 30 seconds. To win the match a team must eliminate both opposing teams by destroying their spawn points and killing all of their players one final time. If two or more teams remain after 15 minutes the winning team is decided by score. Points are awarded for dealing damage, killing players, claiming blessings, and are lost by dying.
Blessings
Soulwar has 3 separate blessing shrines that spawn a blessing every 3 minutes. When a player claims a blessing their entire team gets a random buff, either the Breaker buff, the Beserker buff, or the Assassin buff.
Turrets
Each team has a turret that defends their rear spawn point. The turret shoots an unblockable projectile that deals 50 base damage, this can be reduced by half by the breaker buff. Turrets do not regenerate HP.
Kata Grounds
The kata grounds has all of the Katas in the game. To compete on the Kata leaderboards you must join an official kata grounds server.
Challenges
The challenges map contains three stage single player challenges that test specific skills and mechanics. Each challenge is graded and completely a challenge with an S grade unlocks the pure version of that challenge. Challenge completions reward essence, and the pure versions reward more(check this) essence than the normal versions. The amount of essence scales with your final grade.
